This bulletin is an appendix to and has the same power as the Regulations and, where applicable, overrides the published Regulations.
In accordance with Articles 1 and 10 of the Rules and Regulations, the route has been modified to satisfy safety and other requirements. Consequently, the following Articles are amended: 1.1 Refer to Article 1 The title of the event will now be "The Midnight Sun to the Red Sea 4x4 Challenge". Future bulletins will be issued in this name. 1.2 Refer to Articles 1 & 2 The event will start from Ostersund, Sweden on 1st June 2002 and will finish at Aqaba, Jordan on 21st June 2002. The distance will be approximately 8,000kms. The drive from the UK will be to Ostersund. 1.3 Refer to Article 7 The entry fee, if paid in full before 1st June 2001 is $18,000.00 and thereafter $18,700.00. Payment may also be made by instalments with $1,000 on application and three payments of $5,900 on or before 1st May 2001, 1st September 2001 and 1st December 2001 (total $18,700). 1.4 Refer to Article 7 The additional fees for category 4 members in excess of 2 will be $1,900 for the additional hotel room and $600 per person to cover ferry, insurance etc. 1.5 Refer to Article 8 The Dinner and Presentation will now be in Aqaba. Delete reference to airlift and leg 2. Ferry ticket will now be UK to Sweden. 1.6 Refer to Article 17 The finish will be in Aqaba. 1.7 Refer to 21 Route will start in Ostersund, Sweden then across to Poland and follow the existing route to Jordan. There will be additional days in Sweden and Jordan from those originally planned. The Airlift and the whole of the African sector are deleted. 1.8 Refer to Article 22 A "Bedouin night under canvas in the desert is planned. Delete the game reserve day in Africa.
