Other special trophies may also be awarded.
17. What if I don't want to compete?
Entrants who do not wish to take part in, or wish to withdraw from, or are retired from the "competitive" element are free to do so but must advise the Organisers. They are not required to follow the official route and may run to their own time schedule. They must, however, check in with the Organisers at the end of each day.
Provided they arrive at the Finish in Aqaba before the closure of that Control, they will receive a Finishers Award.
Vehicles will still be allocated a car number.

18. The Crew

Any car taking part in the rally must arrive at scrutineering with its full crew in accordance with the given timetable. Competitors who do not appear for scrutineering within the prescribed time may not be allowed to start.
At Documentation the following items will be checked. International Drivers Licence/Permit of all drivers, Car Registration documents, valid passports and valid insurance documents for the vehicle, valid carnet for vehicle. All crew members must be present.
Cellular and Satellite phones are permitted. Radio for voice communication are permitted if legal in the country of use.
All crew members must attend the pre-event briefing. In addition there will be the opportunity for tuition in the use of Terratrip distance recorders and driving Regularities. The Regularities on the first day of the event will be for practice and they will not be included in the results.
Overnight parking will be arranged at the overnight halts, however, the security of vehicles etc. will be the responsibility of the competitor.
21. Where exactly are we going?
Planning a route so far ahead means that there are inevitably some changes needed either to avoid suddenly impassable roads or, in the worst case, to avoid an area of unrest - we do not take you anywhere we consider unsafe - as indeed happened with our previously planned route through Africa.
Current plans give us a route starting at Ostersund in Sweden with a two night stop at Sunne, then down to Karlskrone to take the overnight ferry to Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, Jordan. There will be rest days at Istanbul and at Petra.
10 Countries, 20 days and about 8,000 kms.

22. Can we see some of the sights on the route?
Most days we will run two Regularities. These will normally be near the start of each day. The average set for traversing each day's route is fairly relaxed, giving you time to stop and take in the sights or just for a leisurely lunch. You could also have time to divert off route to visit something special.
We also have some days without Regularities when you are totally free to do your own thing on the drive to the next overnight halt. There will also be rest days when you will stay in the same place for two nights.
We are also planning a day in the desert in Jordan with a "Bedouin night" under canvas and there should be some social activities at some of the overnight halts.
